If the Apocalypse Shoe Fits
Description
This dream was long and frightening, but I only remember a short clip from it. The feeling, however, remains.
It’s the post-apocalypse, the war of all men against all men rages around me. I am in Dr. Ellis’ house with a woman; she seems to change throughout the dream. We are stocking up with as much supplies as possible, but it is difficult because everything is a mess. There are 3-foot piles of clothes everywhere. Then it turns into Justin’s old house. Then a large Native American guy comes over, he is a priest. He tells us that we need to come to his place, that it’s the only refuge left. It’s dangerous to go outside and I am barefoot. At this point the woman is barefoot too. Suddenly, a big white guy storms in, ready to stab me. I fall back and grab a piece of scrap metal, shoving it in his chest as he lunges at me. Jeff shows up and finishes the guy off. I pull a chopstick out of Jeff’s arm because he’d been stabbed somehow but doesn’t seem to notice. I continue tossing around piles of clothes, searching for shoes. I find my shoes but the woman’s are still missing. I keep throwing her shoes but none of them work for some reason.
Oh the subconscious mind. When I woke up this morning, I felt shitty, like I got up on the wrong side of the bed. I think this dream had something to do with it. Not sure what it means.
Interesting points of reference: I’ve been thinking about shoes a lot because of an interview with a Holocaust survivor where he told me a story about how he stole a large bag filled entirely with left shoes. Post-apocalyptic theme. Ambiguous woman theme.

2010-08-04 06:13:14bodhiYou are correct—I do live in the land that time and God forgot, where the seas are black as oil and the elderly are more dangerous than the giant reptiles.
2010-08-03 22:06:59briggitybrakno, chris. it sucks that YOU live across the country. we live in the normal place.
2010-07-30 08:43:15bodhiSounds interesting. I do remember seeing a few clips and being bugged by the rotoscoping and the manner of speaking, but now I have to see it fully. Damn it sucks that you dudes live across the country.
2010-07-28 17:16:14justinYeah, some of the stuff they talk about goes over my head, but I feel like Chris might like it... my favorite parts of the movie are when they talk about lucid dreams themselves, as opposed to philosophy--like things that help you realize you're dreaming (dreamsigns). Also how our body in our dreams is a complete construction of the mind/how we see ourselves... as obvious as that is, I never really thought of it that way.
2010-07-28 17:00:44briggitybrakI mentioned it a while back, and i thought that you hadn't seen it then, but i wasn't sure if you'd seen it since. I never thought it was all that great of a movie, but i thought it had some interesting dream stuff in it, so i often recommend it to people when talking about dreams.
After watching it with Justin this week, I feel like it was a little better the second time around, but i also thought that you'd really like it for some reason.
2010-07-28 06:05:44bodhiI’ve only seen a few short parts of that movie. I’ve heard from a bunch of people that I would really like it. What’s your feeling about WL?
2010-07-27 23:57:23justinYou posting dreams reminds me... Brian and I wanted to ask you if you've seen the movie Waking Life.
