The Road to the Beach
Description
I'm hanging out with some people, including Hayley. Everyone's going their separate ways when Hayley asks what I'm doing and if I want to do something. I'm down.
She asks, "Where should we go?"
I give my usual response, "Wherever."
She tells me to follow her, so we start driving.
A couple of cars get in between us, which makes it difficult for me to follow. Up ahead, the road splits into two--the right side becomes a steep overpass and the left side keeps going straight. Hayley quickly enters the overpass, and I miss it. I drive straight ahead, make a u-turn (narrowly missing a parked car), and make a u-turn again to get onto the overpass.
This overpass is insane. It's the steepest road I've ever seen. To make it worse, it's a tiny one-lane overpass going over the ocean. I must be up about 50 stories. There could be better guard rails, too.
My car is struggling because it's so steep. I'm almost vertical. Eventually my car can't accelerate up and stops. It even floats off of the road. Technically it should fall, but it's not, luckily. I put the pedal to the floor and slowly start moving again. This goes on for what seems like forever.
Finally, I reach the top of the overpass and start heading back down. I'm no longer in a car, but this is now a water slide. It's not fun for me. I pass a man and child on the way down.
I reach the bottom and find Hayley in a cafeteria-like place. I notice that she's with a boyfriend, and there are two kids--I guess she was married all along? She asks what took so long.
I tell her that the overpass is crazy and that I used to think that the Jehovah's Witness place in Laguna Beach had a steep incline--but this was just nuts. She has no idea what I'm talking about, and I tell her that the place is creepy because of the incline and the fact that it's a Jehovah's Witness place.
Her husband/boyfriend makes us food--fish, to be exact, since we're at the beach. I'm surprised that it doesn't taste awful. Kinda fishy, though.
Comment
I remembered this all day... I just didn't feel like posting it. But then I talked to Chris and our conversation convinced me to do it.
I consider the driving part nightmare-ish.
